Product Description

Roke's RetroScript III (RS-III) is an engineered M-MLV–derived reverse transcriptase optimized for high-efficiency first-strand cDNA synthesis and other RNA-dependent DNA polymerase applications. It features reduced RNase H activity and enhanced thermostability for robust performance at 50–55 °C, enabling excellent yield, specificity, and full-length coverage (>12 kb) even on structured RNA templates.

This product includes all reagents needed to perform a reverse transcription reaction with the exception of dNTPs, primers, and RNA template. It includes:

Component Composition
RetroScript Reverse Transcriptase 200 U/µL
0.1 M DTT Included
5× RSIII Reaction Buffer 250 mM Tris-HCl (pH 8.3), 375 mM KCl, 15 mM MgCl2
Price Comparison

RetroScript III delivers the performance of leading engineered reverse transcriptases at the lowest price in the market, even below non-engineered alternatives.

Engineered reverse transcriptases cost up to ten times more per reaction, but RetroScript III provides the same high-efficiency, thermostable performance for a fraction of the price. This makes it an ideal choice for labs seeking premium enzyme quality without premium pricing.

What this means for cDNA synthesis

Engineered reverse transcriptases like RetroScript III enable higher reaction temperatures (50–55 °C) and reduced RNase H activity, improving cDNA yield, specificity, and full-length coverage. With RetroScript III, you can achieve top-tier performance while saving up to 10× per reaction compared to SuperScript™ III and other commercial RTs.
